Preliminary survey or full audit?
The two services need to be kept clearly apart.
The preliminary site survey is the walk-through needed to prepare a quote. Its purpose is to get to know the site, the task and the form of service required.
A full security audit is a standalone professional service. It may involve deeper process examination, review of documents, interviews, risk assessment and a written set of recommended measures.
What can the audit examine?
The scope has to be agreed with the client. Among other things, it may cover:
- the physical protection of the site;
- the access and authorisation system;
- the movement of people, vehicles and goods;
- the handling of keys and access devices;
- how camera, alarm and access control systems work together;
- the duties and supervision of the guarding service;
- the notification and documentation routine for extraordinary incidents;
- risks associated with subcontractors.

What does the client receive?
A full audit can conclude with a written summary of the risks identified, their severity and the measures recommended.
It is worth separating:
- processes that can be improved quickly and at low cost;
- tasks requiring investment in technology;
- risks that call for a manned presence;
- measures that can be handled through internal rules.
A good audit does not automatically recommend more guards or more technology. The problem may well be reduced through better access arrangements, clearer points of responsibility, or proper use of the equipment already in place.
Is there any follow-up after the audit?
An audit is only worthwhile if the recommendations lead to action. On request, once the changes have been introduced, we can check whether they were implemented and whether they improved the operation.
