Construction site security from groundwork to handover

Guarding a construction site changes with the project: the machinery, the materials, the entrances and the subcontractors are all different at groundwork than before handover.

What we provide

Guarding of construction and site-establishment areas
Protection of machinery, plant and materials
Coverage of sites without power via vehicle patrol
Night-time guarding with dog handler units where needed
Up-to-date guard log and incident reports

A closer look

Why is a construction site risky?

Construction sites hold materials, machinery and temporary infrastructure — often without fencing, lighting or a power supply. Nights and weekends carry the highest exposure.

Combined form of guarding

Depending on the site we combine manned guarding, vehicle patrol and dog handler units — the risk assessment determines which is needed and when.

Experience backed by references

We have guarded construction sites, machinery yards, power line works and solar parks — including the MOXY Downtown Hotel development, the Gesztely and Tiszanána solar parks, and the machinery line of Keller Mélyépítő.

What risks need to be considered?

On construction and industrial sites, common risks include the disappearance of machinery, fuel, cabling, tools and building materials, unauthorised vehicle entry, gates left open, disorganised key handling, and unmonitored subcontractor movement.

Some of these problems stem not from external intrusion but from uncertainty in the daily processes. It is unclear who may take materials out, which vehicles are entitled to enter, who may leave machinery on site, or who can authorise work outside normal hours.

Access control and the movement of goods

The entry procedure has to be matched to how the construction work operates. A different process is needed for the client’s own staff, for subcontractors, for suppliers, for visitors and for machinery.

A guard can only act consistently if given accurate information about authorised people, vehicles, working hours and goods movements. Site management has to designate who may grant an exception, and how the removal of materials or equipment is documented.

Frequently asked questions

Which form of service is appropriate?

On a smaller, well-defined site, manned guarding with access control may be enough. On a large, out-of-town work area, or one without a power supply, vehicle-supported guarding may be needed. On a segregated site at night, a dog handler service may also be justified.

Where technology can be installed, coordinating cameras, alarms and physical presence can reduce unnecessary manned hours. The decision should be based on the site and the risk, not on the name of the service.

How does communication with the construction team work?

A guarding service cannot operate in isolation. Continuous contact is needed with project management, technical supervision or the client's designated representative.

Guards need to know in good time about weekend working, larger deliveries, temporary gate openings, new work areas and special entry permits.

If information reaches the service late, the result is either unwarranted obstruction or uncontrolled entry.

What documentation is produced, and when should the service be reviewed?

Depending on the site, a guard log, vehicle and entry registers, key-handling records, materials removal permits and patrol check data may be required.

The service routine should be reviewed at every significant change of project phase. What was adequate during groundwork may not be enough during the mechanical or interior fit-out stage.

What to look for in a quote

Points to clarify:

  • the service hours;
  • the number of gates and service points;
  • how vehicle and goods movement is handled;
  • weekend and out-of-hours working;
  • shift changes;
  • cooperation with technical systems;
  • the documentation;
  • provision of the guard post and basic facilities.
What determines the price?

Several factors shape the exact fee: the site, the number of hours, day or night duty, the risk level, the headcount required, the technical needs and the extent of documentation. We provide a precise, tailored quote after a free on-site survey.
