Retail loss prevention beyond the shop floor

Retail loss prevention works when it addresses the real source of shrinkage: customer theft, employee misconduct, faulty goods receipt or an incomplete internal process.

What we provide

Visible, deterrent guard presence on the shop floor
Supervision of entry and exit procedures
Prevention of shoplifting and organised offences
Cooperation with store management and staff
Professional, documented action in case of an incident

A closer look

Regular patrolling

Our staff maintain a continuous presence in the protected areas, deterring potential offenders. Patrols check entrances, windows, fences and other critical points.

Control of entry points

Strict control of entry points is central to maintaining security. Our team members continuously monitor people entering and leaving.

Risk analysis and security planning

We carry out a risk analysis to identify hazards and weak points, then prepare a security plan matched to how the particular store operates.

Working with the authorities

In the event of an extraordinary incident we follow the official procedure and provide the necessary documentation.

Ongoing training and development

Our staff receive continuous training to stay current with security technologies and practices.

First find where the loss occurs

In a retail unit the first reaction is often more cameras or a stronger guard presence. These can be important tools, but on their own they do not necessarily solve the problem.

Stock loss can arise on the shop floor, at goods receipt, in the stockroom, in returns handling, at the staff entrance, or from an administrative error. If every discrepancy is automatically treated as customer theft, both the cost and the attention easily end up in the wrong place.

The site survey therefore has to review the entire movement of goods and the access arrangements of the store.

What we examine

During the survey it is worth reviewing:

  • sightlines across the shop floor;
  • high-risk product categories;
  • goods receipt;
  • stockroom movement;
  • staff entry;
  • waste and returns handling;
  • the opening and closing process;
  • how the existing camera system is used;
  • incident documentation.

The data and the on-site observations together show where change is worthwhile.

Frequently asked questions

What can the guard's duties be?

A guard can maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, monitor designated areas, support the opening and closing routine, work with store management, and document extraordinary incidents.

The division of duties has to be recorded precisely. It must not remain unclear what falls to the store manager, the sales assistant, the person monitoring the cameras and the security guard.

Client expectations cannot override legal limits. Handling packages, personal belongings, camera footage and personal data is a sensitive area, so the on-site instructions must be matched to the actual processes and to the rules in force.

How can the results be assessed?

An attendance sheet is not enough to evaluate the service. It is worth examining the type, timing and location of incidents, recurring failures, and whether the client receives useful feedback.

The data may reveal that a particular time of day, product group or process carries a higher risk. In such cases more guards are not necessarily the answer: repositioning, a different division of duties, technology or a change to goods receipt may be more effective.

What to look for in a quote

The quote should cover:

  • the service hours and the headcount;
  • the guard's precise duties;
  • the role in opening and closing;
  • incident documentation;
  • communication with management;
  • cover for absences;
  • the terms of cooperation with the camera system.
What determines the price?

Several factors shape the exact fee: the site, the number of hours, day or night duty, the risk level, the headcount required, the technical needs and the extent of documentation. We provide a precise, tailored quote after a free on-site survey.
